Florida House Representative David Smith Tours Southern Technical College
Sanford, Florida (June 20, 2024) – Providing workforce solutions in Florida since 2001, dedicated educators and seasoned trades professionals at Southern Technical College’s Sanford campus greeted Florida House Representative David Smith, District 38, as they celebrate Student Appreciation for Welding and HVAC students this week.
Representative Smith toured and met instructors and students in each of the campus classrooms before sharing his early career beginnings, having graduated high school with a certificate in welding, continuing his education and then spending over 30 years in the USMC. He attributed his effectiveness in the Florida legislature to the “mission focus” he learned throughout his military service as he advocates for constituents in Tallahassee.
Skilled Worker Sales Tax Holiday on Tools
The legislation creates a seven-day sales tax holiday from September 1 – 7, 2024, for certain tools used by skilled trade worker
